“…to empower students through access, knowledge, and connection.”
Our Focus
The Texas Pre-Law Honor Society was founded to bridge the gap between young legal minds and the realities of the legal profession. As the largest co-ed pre-law organization at The University of Texas at Austin, we serve as a community for students at every step of their pre-law journey. Our mission is simple: to empower students through access, knowledge, and connection.
Focused on pre-professional development, Texas PLHS brings the legal world directly to our members every week.
From practicing attorneys and law school professors to dedicated politicians and Texas Supreme Court justices, we offer our members the opportunity to network with tenured professionals and provide the resources, clarity, and community they need to continue their legal journey with confidence.
What we offer
-
The Texas Pre-Law Honor Society hosts weekly one-hour meetings where members can explore aspects of the law profession and law school process. We offer speaker meetings where we bring in different types of lawyers, judges, politicians, law school panels, and law school students. When not doing speaker meetings, we host LSAT workshops, admissions workshops, and so much more! Through general meetings, members have the opportunity to network with our speakers and get to learn more about the law school process.
-
Texas Pre-Law hosts a variety of socials such as movie nights, boba socials, and tailgates all planned by our Events and Socials Chairs. We host an end-of-semester banquet as well as a retreat in the fall and spring. In the spring, members also have the opportunity to attend a barge on the lake. Get to know your fellow members while also navigating your pre-law journey together!
-
As a member, you can opt in to a peer mentorship program led by our mentorship chair. Members can connect with an upperclassman mentor who can share insights and advice on finding internships and LSAT prep experiences. This is a great way to network with fellow PLHS members over some coffee!
-
Texas Pre-Law is a unique pre-law org in that we have our own mock trial team! Beginners and experienced folks alike are welcome. Our mock trial co-captains hold weekly meetings where members can learn about the trial process and practice their litigation skills. Each semester, our mock trial captains choose a case (one criminal and one civil) for members to argue. Members compete in an end-of-semester competition hosted at UT School of Law.
-
Run by our Philanthropy Chair, we host multiple philanthropic opportunities per month. Past events include profit shares, fundraisers, volunteering, and campus trash cleanups. These events are a great way to connect with other members and the community while contributing to a shared goal!ription

Texas Pre-Law uses a point system to determine scholarship recipients. Points are awarded to members for each event attended with point values differing depending on the event. The top students with the greatest amount of points at the end of each semester receive a scholarship for a specified LSAT prep course. More information on points will be given during meetings.
